What is it? It is an aesthetic dental procedure which aims to restore the natural color of your teeth thanks to the property of oxygen to oxidize the molecules of coffee, tobacco, red wine, etc.
Origin of discoloration (Stains)
Discoloration is divided into two groups depending on the factors that cause stains:
- External factors such as food, colored drinks and tobacco
- Internal factors may be tetracycline, fluoride and genetic factors which are more difficult to treat with the traditional bleaching method.
How it works?
The main ingredient in the whitening gel is oxygen peroxide which penetrates inside the tooth structure by oxidizing the color molecules (yellow in the case of brown colors), and removing them through dehydration.
The whitening material used in dental clinics is not the same as those sold in stores or pharmacies as dental products are professional and should only be used by dentists. Pharmacies and cosmetic stores can not sell bleach containing more than 6% peroxide while dental clinics use up to 35% HP.
Laser or not laser?
For the sake of truth, the “laser” used to whiten teeth is nothing but an LED light that is supposed to work wonders. Sold for the first time by the Zoom company, this light was the only standard for a long time. This is because there was not enough scientific research to prove whether light had any effect on the quality of the bleach. Based on experience Twins Dental Tourism is against the use of “laser” as it does not affect the amount of whitening obtained. Light in some cases affects the patient’s sensitivity and does not allow the successful completion of treatment. For 5 years Twins Dental Tourism does not recommend laser teeth whitening as it has no positive effect and significantly increases the cost of treatment.
How much will my teeth whiten from this treatment?
It depends on the amount and type of existing tooth color. Professional whitening does not stain teeth with any kind of white pigment, it simply removes the yellow color absorbed over the years in the internal structure of the teeth. There is no exact answer to this question. The level of the result depends on the amount of stains and their type. For example, colored teeth caused by fluoride or tetracycline are more difficult to treat than colored teeth caused by coffee wine and green tea.
How long does the result of bleaching last?
It depends on: The foods you consume (colored or colorless), smoking, oral hygiene, and how regular you are with your dentist cleaning.
Can blackened teeth whiten without nerves?
Yes the treatment is called “internal bleaching”. The old filling is removed and the tooth is treated once a week for a minimum of a week.
